Aftercare
Fine-line tattoo aftercare
Fine-line work needs the same careful wound care as any tattoo. Dressing and ointment instructions depend on the products used for your appointment.
Dressing and cleaning+
Leave the initial dressing in place for exactly the period stated by the artist. Wash your hands before touching the tattoo, clean only as instructed and pat rather than rub it dry.
Use only approved products+
Apply only the recommended product, sparingly and from your own clean container. Do not use antiseptic or antibiotic cream unless a healthcare professional advises it.
Do not pick or soak+
Do not scratch, pick or peel. Avoid soaking, swimming, saunas, sunbeds and direct sun until fully healed, and follow the artist’s advice on vigorous exercise and sweating.
Protect the area+
Reduce rubbing from tight clothing and keep the tattoo away from dirty, dusty or oily environments while healing.
Once fully healed+
Protect the tattoo from prolonged sunlight with suitable sunscreen. Do not arrange a touch-up until the skin is fully healed and has been assessed.
Get medical advice+
Contact the studio and seek medical advice for increasing redness or swelling, worsening heat or pain, severe burning or throbbing, or yellow or green unpleasant-smelling discharge.
